When did cardboard become the coolest thing? When Lucas Ainsworth and Alyssa Hamel launched their Kinetic Creatures. Kinetic creatures are simple tab and slot cardboard kits for building animal sculptures. But true to their name, these animals are kinetic. By turning a small handle on the side, each animal will walk across the room. Or, you can add in the mechanical gear kit and let the sculptures walk on their own. Choices include Elly the elephant, Rory the rhino, and Geno the giraffe. Inspired by Theo Jansen’s Strandbeest, Lucas and Alyssa aim to teach students about building things and becoming inventors, but we just think they look really cool.
